Over $2 Million Raised for Homes For Our Troops

Category:

Thank you for supporting Veterans during the Indy 500

Drivers have been competing in the Indy 500 since 1911. Over the course of its long history, records have been broken, history has been made and many bottles of milk have been sipped in celebration. This year’s race felt more special than usual to us at ABC Supply.

Ahead of the race on May 29, 2022, we unveiled a partnership with AJ Foyt Racing to shine a national spotlight on Homes For Our Troops (HFOT). HFOT is an organization that builds and donates specially adapted custom homes nationwide for severely injured post-9/11 Veterans, to enable them to rebuild their lives.

HFOT invests nearly 90% of its donations directly back into its mission, so it relies mostly on word-of-mouth awareness instead of paid advertising. By volunteering the design of our 2022 No. 11 AJ Foyt Racing Chevrolet, we were able to raise awareness for an organization we’re incredibly passionate about and have been a multimillion-dollar supporter of since 2020.

The car’s red, white and blue design featured HFOT’s logo and paid homage to the Veterans that the organization supports. Driver J.R. Hildebrand and his crew were also decked out in special Homes For Our Troops uniforms.

The race began under sunny skies for J.R. and the HFOT team, but three untimely cautions sent the No. 11 Chevrolet to the rear of the field, which forced the team to “make lemonade out of lemons.” However, fast pit stops and strategy calls helped J.R. claw his way back through the field to a 12th place finish.

We invited some HFOT Veterans to watch the race with us and had a blast seeing this special car pay tribute to America’s brave servicemen and women.

“We are blown away by the generosity of those who supported HFOT throughout our matching donation campaign,” says Mike Jost, chief operating officer at ABC Supply. “And we also want to congratulate J.R. Hildebrand and everyone at AJ Foyt Racing for a fantastic showing at this year’s Indianapolis 500. The excitement of the race provided an excellent backdrop to spread the word about the great work HFOT is doing.”

During the week leading up to the Indy 500, we launched a donation match to benefit HFOT. America rallied behind the cause and donated over $1 million to the organization. Along with the match, we raised more than $2 million to support Veterans.

ABC Supply has been a multimillion-dollar supporter of HFOT since 2020.

We’re proud to live in the United States of America, and we are grateful to those who have served and protected us. While the donation match has ended, you can still join us in Building Homes and Rebuilding Lives for Veterans by donating to Homes For Our Troops at hfotusa.org.
