North Carolina Veterans Surprised by Military Makeover Remodel

ABC Supply Donated Building Materials for a Special Cause

ABC Supply is proud to honor our country’s military veterans – so much so that American Pride is one of our Core Values. That’s why we recently participated in our third season of “Military Makeover,” a television program that provides free home repairs for veterans. The deserving recipients of the home remodel, Luke Harvey and Natasha Woodruff, shared their stories throughout the season, reminding people of the great sacrifices that our veterans make to protect our country.

Luke served six years in the U.S. Army as an infantryman. While deployed in Iraq, he was seriously injured when his convoy was hit by an improvised explosive device (IED). Luke suffered a severe head injury, nerve damage and memory loss. When Luke medically retired in 2014 due to his brain injury, chronic pain and post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), he received a Purple Heart award and an Army Commendation with Valor device.

Also an Army veteran, Natasha served as a geospatial engineer, analyzing geographic data to support military and civilian operations for Disaster Relief and Homeland Security. During her service, Natasha was sexually assaulted, leaving her with permanent injuries and PTSD. In 2014, Natasha was awarded the Women of Courage award by the Pentagon when she retired from the Army.

Luke and Natasha met in 2013. The couple now have three children and live in Lincolnton, North Carolina.

As part of their “Military Makeover,” Luke and Natasha’s home was completely remodeled, inside and out, while the family got to spend some quality time together. ABC Supply happily donated building materials, including windows and doors, for the home. Our contractor customer Gaston Roofing of Belmont, North Carolina, was also on hand to install the doors and windows.

When Luke, Natasha and family returned to see their remodeled house, they were given a heroes’ welcome by family, friends, volunteers and members of their community. They were excited to see how their house had transformed into a space that feels like home.

At ABC Supply, we feel it’s important to honor the sacrifices of our country’s veterans in any way we can — whether by hiring them or by donating building materials to help them create their dream homes. Check out our blog for more stories about how we have helped supply free home remodels for veterans in Wisconsin and Florida.
